This is my second year teaching Music K-8 at Discovery Charter School. It was a pleasure to meet a lot of families and have some of the students perform on the violin at the Open House. I see so many possibilities for music at DCS. I am thrilled to be building something new and lasting here.
I’m from just outside of Chicago, Illinois. I have taught music for over 30 years including general music, band, choir, and orchestra. I started playing the French Horn when I was in 5th grade and played in the school band all through middle school and high school. I was a part of a fantastic high school band and choir program that did a lot of traveling, including performing at Disney World. The Horn got me into Illinois Wesleyan University with a full academic scholarship, and into The Disneyland All-American College Band, which was one of the most life changing summers of my life! It then got me into the USAF Band of Liberty in Boston. I started a music school, Ensemble Arts Academy in NW Las Vegas in 2009 and grew to 150 students and just opening a SW location in September 2016. At the 2 locations we have over 20 teachers who teach all ages, all instruments and voice. My music teaching has taken me to Miami, Cocoa Beach, Atlanta, Boston, and Las Vegas, and now to Discovery Charter School. |
